The naming ceremonies I offer are: baby/child naming, adoption/step-child welcoming, family identity/blending, and Transgender naming. It would be an honour to help and support you with any of your ceremony needs.

Baby Naming

A baby naming ceremony is a non-religious alternative to a Baptism or Christening. It is a way of celebrating and welcoming a new addition to your family.

You may choose to have a ceremony to bring family and friends together to commemorate someone special and important in your life, and to reflect on the role that key people will play in the life of your child.

You may include key adults in the naming ceremony, and how many you choose to appoint is entirely up to you. The adults you choose can all have different roles and titles and they can make their own, individual promises to your child during the ceremony.

The most popular names used in place of ‘godparents’ are ‘guideparent’, ‘mentor’, ‘sponsor’, ‘guardian’, ‘sparent’ or ‘oddparent’.

I will write a unique script to celebrate the naming of your child and will help you to choose music, poetry and symobilc rituals, if you would like to include these.

As naming ceremonies, like Christenings, have no legal basis, there are no restrictions on their location, so you may choose to hold them at home, in the garden, in a park, at a hotel, or at your local community centre.

If you are planning a baby naming ceremony to celebrate the new arrival of your special loved one, it would be my utmost privilege and pleasure to help and support you at any time.

Citizenship Ceremonies

A British citizenship ceremony is the final legal step for adults aged 18+ to become a UK citizen.

They are held by local Councils.

The ceremony usually includes:

Swearing an oath, or affirming, allegiance to the Monarch
Making a formal pledge to respect the rights, freedoms, and laws of the UK.

A presentation of the certificate of naturalisation, which is required to apply for a passport.

The ceremony usually ends with singing of the national anthem.

Whilst these ceremonies are usually group events, I would be happy to conduct a private ceremony for you in conjunction with the local Council.

It would be my utmost privilege and pleasure to help and support you with your citizenship ceremony at any time.
